Karasch & Associates Announces Its New Service: VRI – Available Now!

What is VRI?

VRI, or Video Remote Interpreting, is a service that provides sign language for deaf and hard of hearing individuals using online video conferencing software. This service is easy to implement and operate and can be provided for an individual user or for groups in any size setting.

Setup for both users and interpreters only requires standard features found on most computers or tablet devices:

  • an internet connection
  • a webcam/camera system so that the consumer and provider can communicate
  • a microphone
  • a free software download

The interpreter will listen to what is being said and interpret that into sign language. The individual user can see the live interpretation and can understand the conversation around them.

Some benefits to using VRI include:

  • Reduced costs compared to onsite interpreting
  • Service available 24/7, 365 days a year
  • ADA Compliance
  • Ease of use
  • And Technical Assistance available on every session

Since our VRI service is performed remotely over standard internet connections, our certified and experienced interpreters are available anywhere at anytime.

Each client is assigned their own login page through our website where they can easily enter the interpreting session and communicate with their interpreter by simply signing back to them or by using the included chat box.

If multiple interpreters are needed, they can easily leave and enter a session without everyone having to reconnect.

At the beginning of each session, a Karasch technician will be available to assist with any setup or questions and are also on standby 24/7 via chat for any issues that may arise.
