Karasch & Associates has provided hundreds of hours of off-line captioning for videos, television shows and movies. Off-line captioning is the practice of transcribing the spoken word of a previously recorded video and encoding the text into the video stream. This can be presented as Closed or Open Captioning. Closed captioning allows the text to be turned on or off by the viewer. Open captioning can not be turned off and is similar to subtitling.
The examples below show Offline captioning as used for web based videos.
Closed Captioning
The video below allows the viewer to turn the captions on or off. Once the video starts playing, the viewer can click the CC (Closed Captioning) button to toggle the captions on or off.
Open Captioning
The video below has the captions on all the time. Just like subtitles, these captions can not be adjusted or turned off by the viewer.
